Ayurvedic medicineThe World Health Organization (WHO) recognized Ayurveda as an effective and underestimated system of traditional medicine (TM) in 1985 and developed strategy for 2014-2023 to help countries introduce TM into their health systems.
Since 2015, the professions of Ayurvedic doctor and Ayurvedic therapist are recognized on the governmental level in Switzerland and their services are paid for by supplimentary insurance.
In India and Sri Lanka, Ayurvedic doctor education lasts 8-9 years and also includes the study of modern Western medicine.
Modern scientific research in the field of Ayurveda is complicated due to its comprehensive and individual approach, but this does not mean that knowledge and practice transferred from generation to generation and documented in ancient manuscripts does not work. Ayurvedic preventive measures and approach to disease treatment include many aspects:
- Nutrition and daily routine
- Herbal medicines
- Massage
- Detoxifying procedures
- Working with a psychoemotional state, etc.
All these parameters are very difficult to take into account in clinical trials.
I hope I managed to raise your interest in this ancient "science of life". The more I study it the more I wonder how complex and structured this science is.
